In cooperation with the Youth Center “Vermont” and with the support of the Government of Brčko District BiH, the Employment Bureau of Brčko District BiH organized the “Sixth Education and Employment Fair”.

Visitors were provided with an excellent opportunity for direct contact with company representatives, to get informed about new job openings and the labor market, and to improve personal and professional skills through the Fair’s accompanying activities.

This year’s Education and Employment Fair was attended by 25 business entities, 25 faculties from all over BiH, as well as four Brčko high schools and an adult education center.

The fair was ceremonially opened by the Mayor of Brčko District, Zijad Nišić, and the President of the Brčko District Assembly, Siniša Milić, with the message that this is an exceptional opportunity for students of Brčko high schools to learn about the offers for continuing their education, and on the other hand, to get acquainted with the labor market offer and the needs of our economy.

“Just as it is important to have a sufficient number of workers, the conditions that lead to such a situation in the market are much more important, and it is the task of the Government and the legislative authority to create certain regulations in the form of adequate pay and working conditions, and to create a favorable environment so that young people do not leave Brčko. On the other hand, not to burden the economy too much with expenses, taxes, contributions, and everything else that could affect their growth and development,” said Siniša Milić.

The Director of the Employment Bureau of Brčko District BiH, Tamara Duvnjak Mitrović, pointed out that at last year’s education and employment fair, they achieved a successful connection between employers and unemployed persons, as well as students who found and decided on certain professions at the Fair.

The fair was visited by a large number of active job seekers from the Brčko Employment Bureau, as well as students of Brčko primary and secondary schools, with the aim of getting acquainted with the offer for the further continuation of their education.

Within the accompanying fair program, a panel discussion on the topic “What are we doing to keep young people in Brčko” was organized in the hall of the youth center “Vermont”. Participants in the discussion included Aleksandar Pajkanović, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka and a successful entrepreneur, who trained at foreign and domestic universities. In addition to Aleksandar, the panelists were Sanela Hadžajlić, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Brčko District BiH, Srđan Kisić, Head of the Sub-department for Secondary Education, and Tamara Duvnjak Mitrović, Director of the Employment Bureau. With their personal experience and knowledge, the panelists helped those present to more easily decide on their future education and profession, and presented the benefits offered by the institutions of Brčko District, with the aim of stimulating young people to secure a future in their city.

The Director of the Youth Center “Vermont”, Damir Radenković, said that in addition to this Fair, a Career Guidance Office was opened, through which about 700 young people have passed.

“The office will operate until the end of August this year, with the aim of aligning educational profiles with the wishes of young people, their requirements and competencies, and then, together with them, to contact those faculties and find what is best for them and where they will be satisfied and happy.”
