The results of holding conferences, congresses, or symposiums can also be published in the form of a collection of papers or a collection of abstracts of papers.
Article 8.
(Serial publications [journals])
Serial publications (journals) represent any publication that is issued at a certain time interval (weekly, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually) with different content, but under the same title. Every article published in a serial publication issued by the University must have at least two reviewers, with the recommendation that at least one reviewer must be employed outside the University.
The peer-review system and categorization of papers must be visible from the instructions for authors, which are published in every issue of the serial publication (journal) in the same and visible place.
Article 9.
(Types of articles in serial publications)
According to the character of the papers published in serial publications (journals and collections of papers), it is recommended that reviewers classify each article according to the following categories of articles:
Original scientific paper (Original scientific paper) – represents the first publication of original fundamental or applied research results, in such a form that the research can be repeated and the established facts verified; as a rule, this type of work is organized according to the IMRAD scheme (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion) when it comes to experimental research or in a descriptive manner for descriptive scientific fields. Presentations at a conference do not fall into this category, but are categorized as a presentation from a scientific meeting;
Short original scientific paper (Short original scientific paper) – represents an original scientific paper that publishes original research results where some elements of the IMRAD scheme (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion) may be omitted; this type of article can present summarized results of a certain completed original research work or work that is still in progress (presentations at a conference do not fall into this category, but are categorized as a presentation from a scientific meeting);
Final report on research results – a publication that presents the course and results of a scientific-research or development-research task. This category includes only final reports that are publicly available, and does not include temporary, phased, annual reports, nor administrative reports for financiers; preliminary research reports, if they cannot wait for their publication, can be published as short articles in serial publications (journals) as a preliminary note (see Article 9 of the Rulebook);
Preliminary note – by its character, it is most similar to a short scientific article, with the fact that it represents an even shorter and more concise form. In this type of article, only a preliminary report is published, i.e., the results of specific original research that for justified reasons cannot wait to be published as a final report on research results (see Article 9 of the Rulebook). Presentations at a conference do not fall into this category, but are categorized as a presentation from a scientific meeting;
Professional paper (Professional paper) – presents a review of something already known, with a special emphasis on the usability of the results of original research and the dissemination of knowledge, and the complexity of the text is adapted to the needs of the readers of the professional or scientific journal in which it is published; Conference presentations do not fall into this category, but are categorized as a conference paper;
Review article (Review article) – a review of the latest works on a specific subject area, works of an individual researcher or a group of researchers, with the aim of summarizing, analyzing, evaluating, or synthesizing already published information; This type of article provides new syntheses that also include the results of the author’s own research. Conference presentations do not fall into this category, but are categorized as a conference paper;
Conference paper (Conference paper) – represents a scientific or professional presentation from a specific scientific or professional gathering, i.e., a conference. A published presentation must, in principle, be organized as a scientific article.
Prefaces, forewords, reviews, overviews, critiques, discussions, polemics, and interviews in continuous publications (journals) are not specifically categorized, but are published in a section of the publication (journal) specifically intended for that purpose.
Article 10. (Other publications)
Other publications that cannot be classified into the above-mentioned categories, i.e., that do not have the character of a textbook, collection of papers, report, or continuous publication (journal), but are significant in their content or can be used in teaching as supplementary literature, may also, by decision of the Senate, bear the University’s mark and be a university edition.
Other publications are:
Doctoral dissertation – a work on the basis of which its author acquired the title of Doctor of Science;
Master’s thesis – a work on the basis of which its author acquired the title of Master of Science;
Elaboration, pre-study, study – represents a report on a performed specific project task as a concluded professional publication, i.e., documentation intended for a known user, in which a problem or topic is systematically and exhaustively addressed based on relevant sources of information, and guidelines for solving the problem and proposals for further work are provided;
Project documentation – a concluded publication that determines what needs to be done and how, i.e., which appears as a collection of drafts, technical descriptions, and cost estimates for the realization of a project in construction, architecture, mechanical engineering, economics, information system development, and the like.
Other scientific and non-scientific publications – all types of publications in which other types of scientific and professional results of individuals or groups of researchers are presented, as well as other types of publications in which information important to the University is presented, such as jubilee monographs, guides, catalogs, and other publications of a similar character.
Article 11.
